Car Cave is proud to offer this great running and driving low mileage Series I Land Rover.
This Landy original rolled off the Solihull, England assembly line on May 12, 1952.
A few days later on May 20 the original factory built 80' left the factory for Stockholm, Sweden.
A professional conversion company, Wiklundsi Stockholm, extended the chassis, body and driveline an additional 16'.
The build was commissioned by the Link?ping Saab Airport Fire Departement and delivered in 1953.
The chassis number reflects this to be a 1952 model year with a date of first registration on 1/1/1953.
Included pictures show this Series stayed in use with Saab Airport Fire Department until at least 2000, almost 50 years of service, indoor storage, and fleet maintenance.
This is quite possibly the only 96' Series I in existence.
No other are known to exist.
As Paul Harvey would say, now for the rest of the story.
This Land Rover was taken out of service and put into storage for approximately 10 years.
The property caretaker revived this Series and got it road worthy again.
He had followed this Series almost it's entire life with the fire department.
The Series traded hands a few times in Sweden for a total of four owners since 1952.
Mileage is believed to be original according to the Saab log book and this Landy spending 60 years at an airport.
Car Cave purchased the Series from the fourth owner and imported it to the United States in August of 2021.
Previous owner reported replacing the starter.
Very little maintenance was performed by us as this Series arrived 100% road worth with all lights, wipers, gauges, doors, handles, hinges full functional.
Starts without needing choked with the push of a button.
Runs like a top and shifts smooth.
Some spare parts included and shown in pictures.
